Back in February, I spent a few days in Antwerp. It wasn't really on my "top destinations to visit" list if I'm honest, but the reason I traveled there was an event called Rampage. Rampage is the biggest drum & bass and dubstep party in the world - and also one of the craziest things I've experienced in my life.

We arrived in Brussels on Friday and took the train to Antwerp. The first highlight awaited us in the form of a stunning train station. It's such an impressive building! We checked in to our family room at Leopold hotel, which is about a ten minute walk from the station. We booked a family room because it was equipped with two beds and we had more space than in a normal room. This hotel was a good starting point to discover the city.

On Friday night, we decided to go to The Final Rave, which was a huge Trance party. It was so awesome! I used to listen to Trance when I was younger and this rave brought back so many memories. We were standing front row for hours - dancing, drinking and enjoying the music. We went home at 6 o'clock and decided to walk to our hotel. It wasn't the best idea we've ever had. It took us around 40 minutes, which is quite long when you're really tired and just want to go to bed.

Our party marathon continued on Saturday night, with our highlight of the trip - Rampage! It took place in the same location as the previous party: Sportpaleis. It's a huge hall and when we entered it felt so surreal - hearing drum & bass in such a big venue was awesome. We started raving immediately. The light show they put in place was unreal and it was honestly one of the best experiences. The line up was amazing, too. Even though I have to admit that I don't like dubstep that much. Anyway, it was quite nice to have little breaks when the dubstep acts were playing and gather energy for the next drum & bass act. This time, we decided to take a taxi to get back to our hotel. It was a good idea, even though the driver was driving like a mad man.

On Sunday, we needed some time to recover from the previous two nights, so we didn't really do anything. This affected our plan quite a bit, because we wanted to go to Rotterdam on Monday. However, that little trip got canceled, because we decided to explore Antwerp on Monday and then go to Rotterdam during our next trip in 2018.

So, on Monday we strolled through the city. I wanted to see three sights in particular: Het Steen (a medieval fortress), Sint-Annatunnel (a pedestrian tunnel that connects the two banks of the Schelde) and the city centre featuring Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal (a stunning cathedral). We managed to see all of them during our little walk through the city. That's my favourite thing to do anyway: just wander through the city and take in all the impressions.

Tuesday was our last day in Antwerp. We explored China Town for a bit and then decided to go to Bier Central to - obviously - drink some beer and eat Belgian waffles. We then left for the aiport, quite sad that our little holiday was over already. I had so much fun getting to know Antwerp and partying the entire weekend. We will definitely be back for Rampage 2018 in March next year. I can't wait to return to this cute city and make new memories.
