ROOM TO BREATHE

Room to breathe - that's what I got when I went to London on my own last September. I had time to think about my life and what I wanted. However, this trip was not just about that. I went to Hospitality in the Park - a drum and bass festival. I've been listening to this genre of music for a few years now and my love for it grows stronger and stronger. And that's not just because of the music, but also due to the great community.

When I left my hotel room to travel to Finsbury Park, I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to go to a festival all by myself. But let me tell you: I had the best time ever. I spent the first two hours alone, dancing to sets by Maduk and S.P.Y. After that, I grabbed some food and a beer and sat down outside one of the tents. A British couple then started talking to me and when they found out that I traveled all the way from Switzerland just to enjoy some drum and bass, they "adopted" me. I met their friends and spent a few hours with that group. After that, I explored the festival on my own again. I also talked to people from Sweden and New Zealand and I even met a Swiss guy.

Going to this festival was one of the best experiences of my life. I just love the drum and bass community - everyone I've met so far was so friendly, open-minded and - exactly like me - very passionate about this genre. That's why I want to go to a lot more of those festivals next year. I'd love to visit Let it Roll in the Czech Republic, Sun and Bass which is taking place on a beach on Sardinia, Liquicity Festival in Amsterdam, Rampage in Antwerp and of course Hospitality in the Park in London (if they decide to do another edition).

But first, there are a few really cool events coming up in Switzerland: Hospitality in Winterthur this Saturday featuring Metrik and London Elektricity, RAM Night in Zurich and then on New Year's Eve, Maduk will play a set in Zurich. I'm so excited for all of these.
